Iran’s Counsellor in Bangladesh Briefs Bangladeshi Media on Recent Unrest, Foreign Interference, and Public Response

The Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh held a briefing session on recent developments in Iran, attended by journalists and international desk editors from five Bangladeshi media outlets.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh held a briefing session on recent developments in Iran, attended by journalists and international desk editors from five Bangladeshi media outlets.

During the meeting, Seyyed Reza Mir Mohammadi, Iran’s Cultural Counsellor in Bangladesh, explained and outlined various dimensions of the recent events in the country and responded to questions raised by the participants regarding these incidents.

The Iranian cultural counsellor stated that although the recent events initially began under the pretext of protests by a number of traders over fluctuations in the exchange rate, they later escalated as organized groups, rioters, and terrorists—coordinated by US intelligence agencies and the Zionist regime—engaged in unrest, vandalism, and the burning of public and government property. As a result, a significant number of police, security personnel, and even ordinary civilians were martyred through the use of both firearms and bladed weapons.

He added that the Iranian government clearly distinguished between legitimate protest and riots, recognizing the right of traders and shopkeepers to peacefully protest rising exchange rates, while firmly confronting the rioters and terrorist groups that had been organized and deployed by the United States and the Zionist regime.

Mir Mohammadi said that these events constituted another phase of the broad and complex hybrid war waged by the West—particularly the United States and the Zionist regime—against the Iranian people and government.

He noted that this large-scale operation ultimately failed to achieve its sinister and malicious objectives and ended in defeat.

He further explained that during these incidents, the United States, the Zionist regime, and the broader Western bloc employed the full capacity of their media imperialism, especially on social media platforms, to distort facts and fabricate false narratives.

Their aim, he said, was to portray rioters and terrorists as representatives of the Iranian people and, through staged misinformation, to set the people against the Islamic system.

The cultural counsellor emphasized that during these events, the vigilant and resilient Iranian people were able to distinguish between enemy plots and legitimate protests. He noted that on Monday, January 12, millions of people took to the streets in Tehran and other cities across the country, staging massive rallies in support of the leadership, the government, and the Islamic Republic. Through this great and insightful revolutionary movement, the people foiled the enemy’s plans.

Mir Mohammadi concluded by stating that during these incidents, senior officials of the United States, the Zionist regime, and their European allies openly and explicitly supported the rioters.

He said that this disgraceful and unprecedented behavior exposed the true nature of the unrest, making it clear to all that the United States and the Zionist regime were the main forces behind these events.
