AhlulBayt News Agency: A new translation of the Holy Quran into the Russian language has been released.
This was announced by Russian Mufti Nafiullah Ashirov, who said religious scholar Suleiman Muhammedov has done the rendering.
Muhammedov has spent many years of his life in serving the cuases of Islam, he said, the Muslimsaroundtheworld website reported.
Ashirov described the rendering as an efforts to make the meanings of the Holy Quran more accessible to Russian speakers.
He noted that the translation is available online and can be downloaded for free.
It will develop understanding of Islamic teachings in the Russian language, he stated.
It creates an opportunity for learning about Islam directly without having to refer to translations that contain errors, he said.
Translations of the Holy Quran are of great importance in non-Arab societies as they convey the messages of the Holy Book to a larger audience help non-Arabic speakers to understand the teachings of the Quran in their native language.
That is why investing in the translation of the Quran is considered a major step toward introducing Islam and promoting it in non-Arab societies.
