Palestinian resistance cannot be eradicated: Islamic Jihad Movement

The secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement has reiterated the Palestinian people’s enduring pursuit of justice and freedom, emphasizing that resistance is an integral of the Palestinian society that cannot be eradicated, or destroyed.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement has reiterated the Palestinian people’s enduring pursuit of justice and freedom, emphasizing that resistance is an integral of the Palestinian society that cannot be eradicated, or destroyed.

Cited by the Palestine al-Youm news website on Tuesday, Mohammad Al-Hindi reacted to the Israeli regime’s attempts to impede the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

He said "the occupiers" were not only obstructing the formation of a technocrat committee to govern the Gaza Strip, but were also scrutinizing the names proposed for this committee.

Referring to the ceasefire violations, Al-Hindi slammed Israel for its opposition to Palestinian Authority's involvement in Gaza, as well as the regime's objection to the hoisting of the Palestinian flag at the Rafah crossing.

In October last year, Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, reached a ceasefire agreement following indirect negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh, under the supervision of the United States and with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar.

As the formation of a Palestinian national government in Gaza was part of the agreement, Hamas recently announced that it had submitted an initial proposed list of this government to Egyptian officials in Cairo.

Mohammad Nazzal, a Hamas political bureau member, also said in an interview with Al Jazeera news channel that resistance forces in Gaza were prepared to accept Nikolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, as the head of the Gaza Peace Council in place of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

However, the process of the formation of a 15-member committee to govern the Gaza Strip, consisting of independent Palestinian figures was deadlocked amid Israeli opposition, violation of the teerms of agreement and the US failure to establish the Peace Council.
