UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting on Iran

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to convene an emergency session on Thursday to discuss the ongoing developments in Iran, according to diplomatic sources cited by regional media.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to convene an emergency session on Thursday to discuss the ongoing developments in Iran, according to diplomatic sources cited by regional media.

Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported, citing diplomatic sources, that the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled to be held at the request of the United States and will focus on the recent events in Iran.

The report comes amid recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who has made statements widely regarded as interference in Iran’s internal affairs. Addressing individuals involved in acts of vandalism in Iran, Trump claimed that “help is on its way.”

In separate remarks, Trump also stated that the United States would “run Venezuela for years” following the arrest and abduction of its president, Nicolas Maduro. Continuing the interventionist rhetoric toward other countries, Trump further threatened to use military force to seize Greenland, a territory belonging to Denmark, a NATO member state.
