Ayatollah Ramazani calls recent riots in Iran as extension of 12-day June war

A senior Iranian cleric has lashed out the recent riots in different cities calling them as extension of the 12-day Israeli imposed war in June 2025.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Ayatollah Reza Ramezani, Secretary General of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly counted Islam, leadership and nation as three pillars of the Islamic Revolution expressing regret that all of them were violated during the recent unrest in the country.

He lashed out the desecration of holy Qur’an, mosques and other religious sanctities during the recent armed attacks calling vandalization of hospitals, medical centers and public property as disrespectful to the entire Iranian nation.

The seminary professor described the violent attacks in different cities as hostile efforts to topple the power and an extension of the 12-day Israeli-imposed war.

Ayatollah Ramezani deplored the enemies for following a plot similar to the 2005 incidents in Libya that fueled riots within the country and launched attack from outside in order to destroye Libya and kill the former leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The cleric called the continuation of sabotage activities as a call of war against the Iranian nation and the system reiterating that settling the demands and economic issues of the people must be prioritized.

Ayatollah Ramezani made the remarks at the beginning of his seminary class referring to the recent riots that followed earlier protests.

Initial peaceful protests by a group of shopkeepers and businessmen against the fluctuating value of national currency in Iran have turned violent as U.S.-backed saboteurs intervened to attack the people and vandalize public property in different cities.
Two weeks of unrest has led to the killing of tens of security forces and civilians as well as damage to the banks, hospitals, homes and public property in different Iranian cities.

U.S. officials have openly declared support for the rioters threatening to attack Iran in case the government takes measures against the saboteurs.

In response, Iran’s Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) emphasized that the security of Iranian nation and public property will remain their redline.
