AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says that the new amendments to the foreign currencies market and the subsidies system were aimed at helping the people's livelihood, blaming the US and Zionist regime for the riots.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke to the nation on national TV on Sunday. He said in response to a question about his administration's changes to the the foreign currencies market and the subsidies system saying that the amendmenets were made in order to create more people-based justice for all classes in the society.
He said that the changes to the foreign currencies market were aimed to convince the exporters to bring back the foreign currencies they have acquired to inside the country to help the government direct them towards the people's needs.
He also said increasing the prices of some foodstuff are made up for by increasing the subsidies more than three times.
The president also said about a question about the protests that followed the carrying out the new economic plan, saying that the Islamic government distinguishes protests from riots.
He said that the traders and shopkeepers demands were heard by the government and changes were made to the policies in accordance with them.
Pezeshkian further noted that the rioters that do acts of sabotage and destruction by abusing the protests are instigated by Washington and the Zionist regime after their failure in the 12-day military aggression.
He called on the Judiciary and security forces to deal a heavy blow to the rioters in line with the people's demands.
