Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Hassan Firouzabadi has said that the West has adopted the new policy of “Wahhabi terrorism” to create rift among Muslims.

Firouzabadi pointed out that the Westerners’ plots in the Middle East are the root cause of terrorism and bloodshed in the region.

“These brutal attempts are aimed at creating rifts among Muslim nations and impeding the unity of Muslims.”

The West supported the establishment of Wahhabism and exploited it at different times to achieve its objectives, he noted.

Commenting on the recent wave of terrors in the region, he also pointed out that Wahhabis are working in line with the aims of hegemonic powers in the region.

He emphasized that the only way of confronting Wahhabism is vigilance on the part of Muslims.

On Sunday October 18, a terrorist attack killed over 40 Iranian citizens, including five senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

Jundullah claimed responsibility for the attack carried out in the city of Pishin, near the border with Pakistan.

The IRGC commanders were on their way to a meeting with local elders of the Shia and Sunni communities when the terrorists carried out the attack.

IRGC Ground Forces Deputy Commander Nour-Ali Shoushtari and Sistan-Baluchestan Province IRGC Commander Rajab-Ali Mohammadzadeh were among those who lost their lives in the attack.

Iranian Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi has said Tehran has firm evidence which shows a number of countries support the Jundullah terrorist group.
