Grand Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani: Imam Hussein sacrificed everything to revive God’s name

AhlulBayt News Agency: In a deeply spiritual reflection ahead of Ashura, Grand Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani emphasized the divine nature and eternal significance of the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), stating that Imam Hussein sacrificed everything he had solely to revive the name of God.

The revered Shiite authority declared that the martyrdom of Hussein ibn Ali (PBUH), the Master of Martyrs, was an act of ultimate devotion aimed at restoring divine truth in a world overcome by tyranny.

“Whatever Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was, he gave it all—his life, his family, his companions—to revive the name of God,” Ayatollah Wahid said. “In response, God Almighty has mobilized the universe to revive and preserve the legacy of Imam Hussein.”

In his remarks on the spiritual stature of Imam Hussein and the significance of mourning rituals, Ayatollah Wahid noted that the tradition of mourning began not on earth, but in the heavens:

“The first one to establish mourning for Imam Hussein was none other than God Himself. The field of mourning for Aba Abdullah Hussein (PBUH) is not limited to Husseiniyas or cities—it spans the heavens, the horizons, and all realms of existence.”

Drawing on theological reasoning, the Grand Ayatollah presented a deductive argument: just as Imam Hussein sacrificed everything in devotion to God, the entire universe has been spiritually charged by God to sustain and elevate the remembrance of Imam Hussein’s mission.

“This proves what the uprising of Imam Hussein truly represents: a divine mission, whose foundation is the revival of God’s name and justice on earth.”

Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani’s remarks serve as a powerful reminder of the metaphysical depth of the Karbala uprising, resonating deeply with the faithful as the Islamic world prepares to commemorate the tragedy of Ashura.
