The fact that the Nobel Peace Prize was given to Barack Obama is very upsetting. The president is considered an agent of two wars that are being fought presently: the war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq. It is very strange that he won the prize and has put the whole Nobel Peace Prize committee under question.
But, it might not be that strange given the fact that Henry Kissinger won the prize years ago. It seems as if the committee which decides who wins the Nobel Peace Prize is pressured by countries and groups and is not after finding real candidates who actually try to create peace in the world.
Henry Kissinger received the Nobel Peace Prize for signing the agreement that ended the Vietnam War. But, was the committee unaware of the fact that he was one of the main factors behind the war itself?
People should not receive the prize just because of promises that they make; rather their actions should be considered important. Barack Obama has made plenty of promises but has also ordered the United States Army to kill people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq.
