John Kerry: Israel incapable of destroying Iran’s nuclear program

John Kerry stated that Israel cannot destroy Iran’s nuclear program, warning of potential regional instability. Iran and the US held the fifth round of nuclear negotiations in Rome, with Oman proposing solutions to overcome obstacles. Further discussions are expected in the coming weeks.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Former US Secretary of State John Kerry has stated that Israel is not capable of destroying Iran’s nuclear program.

Speaking to CNN, Kerry addressed the ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington. He also commented on threats from Israeli officials regarding potential strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Kerry expressed hope that former President Donald Trump could secure the best possible deal, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts. He stated, “I hope he gets a deal... I’m glad that the president is pursuing that. I think it’s really vital.”

He further stressed that Israel, acting alone, does not have the capacity to terminate Iran’s nuclear program. However, he acknowledged that Israel could inflict significant damage, which could lead to greater regional instability.

Meanwhile, Iran and the United States held the fifth round of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program in Rome on Friday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US President Donald Trump’s regional envoy, Steve Witkoff, led the delegations.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei described the talks as calm and professional. He stated that Iran’s principled positions were clearly outlined during the discussions.

Baghaei also noted that the Omani Foreign Minister had proposed solutions to overcome obstacles. These proposals were examined in the latest round of talks.

It was agreed that further evaluations would take place in the respective capitals, while Oman’s Foreign Minister continues refining the details of the proposed ideas. The date and location of the next round of negotiations will be announced later.
