India and Pakistan extend airspace restrictions for another month

India and Pakistan have extended their airspace restrictions for each other’s airlines until June 24. Indian carriers are taking longer routes due to the closure. Meanwhile, foreign airlines have resumed overflying Pakistan despite ongoing restrictions.

AhlulBayt News Agency: India and Pakistan have extended the closure of their airspace for each other’s airlines by a month, affecting flights between the two countries.

Indian carriers, particularly those operating from northern India, including Delhi, are now taking longer routes to and from western destinations due to the restrictions.

The previous notice to airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistan was set to expire on May 24. However, a fresh NOTAM issued by India states that Indian airspace will remain closed to Pakistan-registered aircraft, including military flights, until June 24 at 5:29 a.m. (IST).

Similarly, Pakistan has issued a new NOTAM stating that its airspace will remain closed to Indian-registered aircraft, including military flights, until June 24.

Despite these restrictions, many foreign airlines have resumed overflying Pakistan on their routes between the west and the east, including flights to and from India.
