AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli crimes in Gaza go beyond the massacre of civilians and destruction of homes—the regime systematically targets symbols of hope and resistance in Palestine.
According to Pars Today, the martyrdom of 700 athletes and the destruction of athletic infrastructure in Gaza raises the question: Why does Israel specifically target athletes?
Athletes in every society, especially in Palestine, are more than just champions in sports. They represent hope, national unity, and resistance. By targeting them and destroying sports facilities, Israel aims to weaken Palestinian morale and undermine the spirit of resistance.
Palestinian athletes, particularly those competing internationally, serve as ambassadors for Palestinian human rights. Their participation in global competitions exposes Israeli crimes to the world. The occupying regime, by physically eliminating them, seeks to silence Palestine’s voice and prevent media coverage of its atrocities.
By murdering athletes and destroying stadiums, Israel is not only attacking the present generation but also depriving future Palestinian youth of sports facilities, collective identity, and international opportunities.
As the death toll in Gaza nears 53,000, international organizations remain silent. Is it not a violation of human rights to kill athletes and destroy sports infrastructure? Why have global bodies such as FIFA and the International Olympic Committee failed to condemn these crimes?
The Zionist regime, through the assassination of athletes, seeks to crush Palestinian aspirations. However, history has shown that the more the occupiers kill, the stronger the resistance becomes.
Initiatives like "Journalists of Hope" prove that Palestine remains alive, despite destruction, and that its voice for justice will continue to resonate worldwide.
Muntasir Adkidak, Deputy Chairman of the Sports Media Association of Palestine, announced the launch of "Journalists of Hope", a project by Palestinian sports media in collaboration with Arab and international outlets to support young Palestinians in Gaza.
He stated that the initiative aims to provide economic empowerment, psychological support, and strengthen the voice of Palestinians through sports and human connection.
