Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon kills one, violating ceasefire agreement

An Israeli drone strike killed one person in southern Lebanon, marking a ceasefire violation. Israeli forces continue to occupy Lebanese regions, despite withdrawal deadlines passing. Lebanese officials vowed action to end Israel’s presence.

AhlulBayt News Agency: At least one person has been killed in an Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon, marking a new violation of the ceasefire agreement with the Arab nation.

Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television reported that the Israeli drone fired a missile at a car traveling near Tyre on Saturday, leaving its occupant dead.

This incident follows multiple Israeli airstrikes on Thursday, targeting southern Lebanon. These attacks killed a member of Hezbollah and destroyed several prefabricated structures.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health confirmed that an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle on the Arnoun-Yohmor road, killing one person.

A Lebanese security source identified the victim as Mohammad Ali Marouni, a Hezbollah member from Arnoun in the Nabatieh district.

In a related attack, Lebanon's National News Agency reported that an Israeli Apache helicopter carried out three consecutive strikes on Houla village in southeastern Lebanon, hitting a prefabricated structure belonging to the Wataawano Association.

Earlier, the Israeli army struck another prefabricated building in Adaisseh village.

Additionally, a drone dropped a stun grenade on a house in Kfar Kila, while another drone dropped a similar device over the ruins of al-Dhahira School in western southern Lebanon.

Since the ceasefire agreement took effect, Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly attacked Lebanon, violating the terms of the truce.

On January 27, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

Despite the February 18 deadline passing, Israel continues to maintain its occupation of five key regions in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all near the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Lebanon has condemned Israel’s ongoing military presence, arguing that it violates the ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal timeline.

Senior Lebanese officials in Beirut have vowed to take all necessary measures to remove Israeli occupation forces from their land.
