AhlulBayt News Agency - Top Hezbollah officials, including deputy leader Sheikh Naim Kassem, attended a mourning ceremony at a hall in southern Beirut on Friday, to pay tribute to the Lebanese Hezbollah’s commander in Syria, Mustafa Badreddine, who was martyred earlier this week in an explosion in Damascus.
In its statement announcing his martyrdom, Hezbollah said “a strong explosion targeted one of our centers near the Damascus International Airport, leading to the martyrdom of brother commander Mustafa Badreddine and wounding several others.” It called Badreddine a “great jihadi leader,” who had joined “the convoy of martyrs, on top of them his comrade, close friend and predecessor Imad Mughniyeh.
“The message is that a martyred commander has joined the convoy of martyred leaders,” Hezbollah Cabinet Minister Hussein Haj Hassan told The Associated Press. “He boosts us with his martyrdom with strength, glory, will and intention to continue the fight against the Zionist enemy and the takfiris (Wahhabi extremists) until victory is achieved, God willing.”
Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem asserted on Friday that the party will announce in few hours all the details of the explosion which rocked one of its centers in Damascus and claimed martyr Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine.
Sheikh Qassem confirmed Hezbollah's determination to continue fighting the Zionist enemy and its allies, noting that the martyrdom of commander Badreddine will intensify this resolute decision.
Speaking during martyr Badreddine's funeral, Sheikh Qassem mentioned some of the attributes of the commander, saying that he bravely confronted the Zionist entity in Lebanon and the takfiri scheme in Syria.
