AhlulBayt News Agency - The extremist rebel factions in northwestern Syria formed another coalition for their large-scale Latakia offensive on Monday in order to take advantage of the Syrian Arab Army’s exposed defenses near Jabal Al-‘Ali and Jabal Al-Qal’at.
The Jihadist factions were initially successful, capturing two checkpoints near Jabal Al-‘Ali in the Kinsibba countryside; however, they were unable to advance much farther than that, thanks in large part to the arrival of the Desert Hawks (Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra).
In a matter of two hours, the Desert Hawks and the Syrian Marines were able to reverse all of the Jihadist gains, while also killing a large number of their combatants in the process of cleansing Jabal Al-‘Ali.
According to a military source in Latakia, the extremist rebels never captured the villages of Rasha, Talet Al-Malek, and Al-NashHaba, despite several claims made by their social network accounts.
The source added that over 20 Uyghur and Chechen terrorists were killed during the battle for northeastern Latakia on Monday.
Currently, the northeastern Latakia front is calm – there have been no reported clashes tonight.
