ISIS continues its ruthless anti-civilization campaign in Mesopotamia by ravaging the 4000-year old archeological Wall of Nineveh.
Local activists reported the tragic incident which occurred on Thursday when ISIS bulldozed the iconic Adad Gate and parts of the Wall only days after demolishing Mashki Gate (built by the Assyrian king Sennacherib in the 7th century BC).
Nineveh was the ancient Assyrian city of Upper Mesopotamia. ISIS captured Mosul, the provincial capital of Nineveh, in June 2014.
Since it began expanding in Syria and Iraq, the internationally-recognized terror group has damaged and destroyed several archeological and historical sites in both countries, thus erasing the cultural and heritage of the region, on the pretext of removing ‘infidel and non-Islamic’ ruins.
