Shrine of Hazrat Abbas completes cataloging 2,000 manuscripts for Islamic scholarship

The Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala has completed the cataloging of 2,000 manuscripts, documenting them across four volumes with a fifth in progress. The collection includes valuable Islamic texts such as Qurans, Nahj al-Balagha, and Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya. Additionally, the center has expanded its digital archives through the Digital Reference for Manuscript Heritage, now hosting over 100,606 cataloged entries for global research

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala has successfully completed the cataloging of 2,000 manuscripts housed in its library. According to Ahmed Mohammed Abdullah from the Manuscript Imaging and Cataloging Center, the documentation process has been carefully conducted and compiled into four published volumes, with a fifth currently in production.

Each manuscript entry includes detailed information such as the title, author, date of transcription, and origin, offering a valuable resource for researchers. Among the most significant works are Qurans, copies of Nahj al-Balagha, and Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya, which have been given special attention due to their scholarly importance.

To further expand access to Islamic heritage, the center has digitized catalogs from public and private libraries worldwide, creating an extensive database known as the Digital Reference for Manuscript Heritage. This platform now holds 100,606 cataloged entries, providing researchers with a wealth of Islamic literary treasures.

With these efforts, the Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) continues to uphold its role as a vital institution for the preservation and dissemination of Islamic knowledge.
