AhlulBayt News Agency: The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JIP) has proposed an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to discuss the ongoing Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Hafiz Naeem ul-Rahman made the request in separate letters addressing the officials of the OIC member states including the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
He wrote,” We call for a collective demand by the leaders of Islamic countries to help the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and preventing further aggression by the occupying Israeli regime.”
He expressed concern over the current situation in Gaza going beyond catastrophe proposing an immediate meeting of the OIC concurrent with the International Day of Solidarity with Gaza.
He wrote,” What we witness in Gaza does not fall short of genocide where the innocent civilians including women and children are killed fearlessly. Hospitals, schools and refugee camps as well as journalists, all of whom protected by international law-are deliberately targeted.”
Hafiz Naeem ul-Rahman expressed concern over inaction of the international community and said,” The destructive capabilities of the modern weapons which are freely and disproportionately used by Israeli forces has led to unparalleled destruction.”
Early in February, in response to a similar call by Iran, the OIC held an emergency meeting to discuss the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza Strip.
Close to 51,000 Palestinians have lost their lives and more than 115,000 others wounded since the regime began its atrocities against the besieged Gaza in October 2023.
