Necessity of economic, political sanctions against Zionist regime - Iranian official

Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, at the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) meeting, stated that Iran and many countries in the region consider the Zionist regime to be the greatest threat to international peace and security.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, at the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) meeting, stated that Iran and many countries in the region consider the Zionist regime to be the greatest threat to international peace and security.

Hamidreza Haji Babaei, Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, elaborated on Iran’s stance regarding the Palestinian issue and the crimes of the Zionist regime during the PUIC meeting held on Saturday on the sidelines of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

Haji Babaei said, “One of the most horrific war crimes and human rights violations in world history, as well as a deliberate genocide, is currently being perpetrated by the terrorist and illegitimate Zionist regime in Gaza.”  

A member of Iran’s parliamentary delegation emphasized the need to counter the Zionist regime’s crimes, calling for the formation of an international consensus against it, comprehensive support for the people of Gaza, legal pursuit and prosecution of the Zionist regime’s political and military decision-makers for war crimes, and the imposition of economic, political, and sports sanctions on the Zionist regime.

‏ Praising Venezuela’s anti-imperialist stance  
On the sidelines of the 150th IPU Assembly, Iran’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament met with the Deputy Speaker of Venezuela’s National Assembly and praised Venezuela’s anti-imperialist positions as well as its support for the Islamic Republic of Iran in international forums. The Venezuelan Deputy Speaker, for his part, expressed Venezuela’s support for Iran’s efforts regarding the Palestinian cause.

Meeting with the Speaker of Oman’s Parliament  
Hamidreza Haji Babaei also met with the Speaker of Oman’s Parliament, stating, “The Iranian nation sees Oman standing alongside the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza, and you have chosen justice over oppression.” The Speaker of Oman’s Parliament noted that significant efforts have been made during the assembly to support the oppressed people of Palestine.

‏ Three Official Meetings in Uzbekistan  
During their trip to Tashkent, the Iranian parliamentary delegation held three bilateral meetings. In the first meeting, the Iranian delegation, led by the Deputy Speaker, met with Nurdinjon Ismoilov, the Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Parliament. Both sides exchanged views on shared issues and emphasized the development of relations between the two countries. 

Following this, the Iranian delegation held a meeting with members of the Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Uzbekistan’s Parliament. In the final event of the trip, the Iranian delegation met with the Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Senate.
