AhlulBayt News Agency: The annual International Quds Day day is an opportunity to express public support for Palestine and liberation of al-Quds, an official said.
Head of the Intifada and Quds Day Headquarters Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif made the remark in an interview with IQNA ahead of this year’s International Quds Day, which will fall on March 28.
The International Quds Day is among the legacies of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who is revered as a spiritual leader by Muslims across the world.
Back in 1979, shortly after leading an Islamic Revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan the Quds Day.
The rallies on this day will convey the message of support for the resistance front and the oppressed people of Palestine and the Gaza Strip, Sharif told IQNA.
It will be a meaningful message for the Zionist regime and its backers to stop the massacre of the Palestinian people and let the people to return to their motherland and leave in peace, he stated.
He noted that the Iranian people’s massive turnout in the Quds Day rallies over the years has showcased their steadfastness in supporting Palestine and condemnation of the Zionist regime.
He added that Imam Khomeini’s declaration of the last day of Ramadan as the International Quds Day foiled the Israeli regime’s strategy of consigning the issue of Palestine into oblivion.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sharif said the Palestinian nation, who began their struggle against the Zionist occupiers with stones have now become powerful, as demonstrated in the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation carried out by resistance forces against Israel in October 2023.
He expressed hope that the people of the world would see a day when the holy city of al-Quds is liberated and the Palestinian nation will live in this land in peace and security again.
