Preparations are underway in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, to hold the “Imamate International Week” in June.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Preparations are underway in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, to hold the “Imamate International Week” in June.

The Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine will organize various programs during the international event, slated for June 13 to 20.

They include 12 conferences about the life and Seerah of the 12 Infallible Imams (AS) with the participation of academic and seminary figures, Al-Kafeel reported.

There will also be art competitions, forums and workshops, according to the Astan.

By organizing the Imamate International Week, the Astan seeks to institutionalize the teachings of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), clarify their conduct in addressing the crises of the contemporary world, and highlight their role in dispelling intellectual doubts and confronting deviant ideas.

The Imamate International Week will be held with the motto of “Prophethood and Imamate are inseparable” on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir.

The event of Ghadir, or Eid al-Ghadir is celebrated by Shia Muslims around the world every year.

It is among important feasts and happy holidays of Shia Muslims held on the 18th day of Dhul Hijjah in the lunar Hijri calendar.

It was the day when according to reports, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) as his caliph and the Imam after himself following an order from God.

Eid al-Ghadir will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14, this year.
