AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): People in Turkey attended special prayer ceremonies for the Gaza Strip, held in 90,000 mosques across the country.
The ceremonies were organized by Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), according to TRT Arabic.
A large number of people took part in the religious event, demonstrating their support for the Palestinians and the cause of Palestine.
Diyanet President Ali Erbas also attended one of them held in Haji Bayram Mosque in the capital Ankara.
It comes as the Israeli regime’s attacks against the Gaza Strip continue despite worldwide condemnations.
More than 10,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli aggression that was launched on October 7, when Hamas fighters launched a surprise operation dubbed “Al-Aqsa Flood Operation”, against the Zionist regime.
While Turkey’s people have shown unwavering support for Palestine in the face of the Israeli aggression and atrocities, the Ankara government has failed to go beyond outward paying lip service to the need for protecting the Palestinian people.
A Turkish MP recently criticized the government for maintaining broad economic and military ties with the Zionist regime, saying these ties run counter to Ankara’s stances on the issue of Palestine.
The lawmaker said the Israeli pilots who bomb Gaza have been trained in air bases in Turkey’s Konya and the fuel for those Israeli warplanes comes from Turkey’s Iskenderun.
Turkish vessels also carry cement and steel for illegal settlement construction in occupied territories, the MP deplored.
