The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that more than 263,934 citizens were displaced from their homes, as a result of the continuous Israeli bombing by air, land and sea on the Gaza Strip. Nearly 175,000 of these displaced people have taken refuge in 88 schools run by UNRWA, and more than 14,500 others in 12 public schools, while about 74,000 are believed to be staying with relatives and neighbors or have taken refuge in churches and other facilities.
