Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi while answering a reporter’s question on Saturday strongly rejected the claim made by Kuwait’s al-Rai Newspaper that the US had conveyed a message to Iran, threatening to attack Iranian military bases inside the country, if American soldiers in Iraq and Syria came under harm from Iranian forces.
There is no formal diplomatic relations between Iran and US since 1980. Instead, Iran has an interest section at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington and the United States has maintained a corresponding interest section at the Swiss Embassy in Tehran.
