Backed by Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the western perimeter of Halfaya, forcing the Takfiri rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to quickly abandon their points in order to avoid being overrun.
With the Takfiri rebels retreating towards the town-center, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies took the opportunity to enter Halfaya for the first time since they withdrew from the town late last year.
Should the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies take control of Halfaya today, then they will have successfully secured the key town of Mhardeh, which is located directly west of the Hama-Idlib Highway (M-5 Highway).
