(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Dialogue between Damascus and armed opposition groups is possible if it leads to the end of bloodshed in the war-torn country, Syrian President Bashar Assad said.
Assad stressed that the Syrian authorities had already started such a dialogue by declaring amnesty for those who stopped fighting for the sake of peace and the end of bloodshed in the country.
"Speaking of the possibility of a epilogue with armed [opposition] groups, which would surrender their arms, I should say — yes," Syria's SANA news agency on Tuesday quoted Assad as saying in an interview with an Iranian political magazine.
