AhlulBayt News Agency - The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) warplane that was reportedly lost during a military operation against the Houthi forces on Monday has been found inside the port-city of Aden in southern Yemen.
According to the Emirati military spokesperson, the Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed due to “technical errors”, killing both pilots in the process.
The pilots were carrying out a search-and-destroy mission for “Operation Restoring Hope”, which is a Saudi-led initiative to regain control of the country from the Ansarullah fighters and Yemeni Army.
It is the first known loss of an Emirati jet in the conflict in which some 6,000 people have been killed.
Most of the deaths have been civilian, the UN says.
The plane crashed in a mountainous area near the southern city of Aden, local officials and witnesses said.
In December, a Bahraini F-16 crashed in Saudi Arabia due to a "technical error", while in May a Moroccan warplane came down over Yemen.
