Heavy rains lash Mecca

Widespread raining in western Saudi Arabia have caused heavy flooding in Mecca late Thursday.

The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) of Saudi Arabia has warned that heavy rainfall is likely to continue on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

PME is monitoring the weather conditions all over the country through 40 branches working round the clock, a PME spokesman said in a statement.

Widespread raining in western Saudi Arabia have caused heavy flooding in Mecca late Thursday, May 8, 2014, as can be seen in these pictures taken by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Rains, however, did not deter Umrah pilgrims from performing their duties.
