To attain the goal, the two countries should adopt a unified stand in dealing with the issues of world Muslims, he said.
Ayatollah Araki made the remarks in a meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Tehran Abdulrahman bin Gharman al-Shihri.
Araki also lauded the development projects implemented in Saudi Arabia to facilitate Haji rituals for Muslims.
Iran and Saudi Arabia play a very significant role in dealing poblems facing Muslims around the globe, he said, adding that to meet the needs of Islamic states all Muslim countries should remain independent from non-Islamic states.
ˈTo resolve the crises in countries such as Egypt and Syria we all should contribute and the United Nations welcomes such a move,ˈ Ayatollah Araki said.
Formation of a special committee with participation of Shi’et and Sunni scholars can help bring the two sidesˈ views closer and help resolve disputes among Islamic Ummah, he said.
Several years ago, Saudi king called for establishment of a center for dialogue among religions and Iran welcomed the idea as it believes that such a center can forge unity and solidarity among various Islamic sects, he said.
The Saudi ambassador, for his part, said all Islamic states are committed to the principles of Islam despite their minor differences.
Lauding the prominent role of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in forging unity among Muslims, he said Iranian officials are very broad-minded in dealing with such affairs.
Islamic Ummah possesses numerous wealth in all fields and should make use of it through unity, he said.
Saudi Arabia will do its best to establish the center for dialogue among religions at the earliest, said the Saudi ambassador.
