(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - German Chancellor Angela Markel's remarks on Iran in the occupied territories were regrettable as negotiations aimed at putting an end to an unnecessary crisis are the right approach, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said on Wednesday night.
Those unreal comments were made in a place where the cases of breaching the human rights, threats, aggressions, and criminal acts against the real owners of Palestine and the other regional countries have occurred repeatedly and on a daily basis, she added.
Afkham said that Iran has not posed any threats against any foreign country during the course of the past 250 years and has never initiated any antagonist military move.
Merkel claimed on Tuesday at a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Germany views Iran as a potential threat not just to Israel, but also to European countries.
But she stopped short of endorsing her host's demand that Tehran give up all nuclear projects under any negotiated deal with world powers, and reiterated Berlin's opposition to Israeli settlements on occupied land where the Palestinians seek statehood.
