Iran planning to render holy Quran into numerous languages

Head of the Center for Translation of the Holy Quran has voiced Iran’s readiness to publish Quran into other languages as a necessity of expanding Islam in the world.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hujatoleslam Mohammad Naghdi said the center is primarily aimed at translation of the holy Quran into other languages of the world so that the book can be accessed by all humans in various parts of the world. One of the activities of the center is publication of the Tarjoman Vahy Journal which is released with focus on theories regarding translation of the holy Quran and provides useful information about the job. The institute, dubbed in Persian as Tarjoman Vahy, is house to a rich archive of all the translation of the holy Quran completed by the center since its establishment in 1994. The archive entails 145 languages in 5,600 volumes which can be accessed by interested researchers, he added. Furthermore, the language library of the institute has a collection of over 5,000 dictionaries in 70 languages which provide a great reference for the interested translators to keep on their work based on the institute’s reserves./149
