(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iraq's Sunni and Shia endowment offices are preparing to hold joint conferences and seminars to unify religious positions and views on terrorism, the Iraqi government said Tuesday (August 20th).
"As part of efforts to forge a unified position on terrorism as represented by al-Qaeda and other armed groups, the government is putting together a comprehensive national programme to hold conferences and seminars that bring clerics together under the auspices of Sunni and Shia endowment offices to garner support for the security forces in their war on terrorism," said Iraqi government media advisor Ali al-Musawi.
Programme events aim to expose and refute ideologies that promote violence and extremism, by way of presenting the true Islamic teachings and holding regular unified prayers at mosques of both sects in Baghdad, he said.
