(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Dr. Mahmoud al-Zahhar, a leading figure in Hamas movement, warned the Israeli occupation of any attempt to wage a war on Gaza, stressing that Hamas has become stronger than before.
Zahhar said during a seminar organized on Saturday in Gaza that his movement is taking seriously the Israeli threats to wage a war on Gaza, and is preparing itself for the battle against the occupation.
He noted that Israel does not need justifications for striking the Gaza Strip, as it has been always and continuously attacking it through raids and daily abuses.
The Islamic resistance movement leader asserted that Hamas possesses "the means through which it can harm the enemy much more than in the war on Gaza of 2009, if it thinks of launching a new aggression on the Strip."
Concerning the Palestinian reconciliation, he stressed that it has been obstructed because of the inability of Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority and Fatah movement, to implement the reconciliation terms upon which the two sides had agreed upon in Cairo in May 2011, pointing to holding of local elections in the West Bank, and to the ongoing political arrests against Hamas' supporters.
Zahhar pointed out that his movement would not take part in the local elections scheduled to take place in the West Bank because it would be "rigged".
