The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman and several other Iranian officials were walking to their hotel when they were followed and assaulted by a group of protesters aligned with the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization on the street near the UN headquarters on Wednesday in New York after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the UN General Assembly.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast was verbally abused, pushed and shoved by protesters, while New York police were indifferent and arrested no one in the incident.

Unfortunately, Mehmanparast said, despite repeated requests for police’s help “we were witnessing a kind of indifference by American police.”

The MKO is on the U.S. terrorism list. However, U.S. officials announced on September 21 that the Obama administration has decided to remove the group from its list of terrorist organizations.

Mehmanparast said the United States as the host country is “responsible to protect the lives of diplomats.”

He added, “I think the American and European people are very worried that their officials have put support for such groups (MKO) on their agenda.”

Mehmanparast said the worse the enemy “treats our people the stronger our steps get.”
