(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A meeting is slated to be held soon between Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya and his Egyptian counterpart Hisham Qandil in Cairo to explore avenues of mutual cooperation, an informed source from the Egyptian Cabinet said.
The source told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that Haneyya and Qandil agreed during a telephone call made a few days ago by the former to meet in Cairo.
He affirmed that the meeting would take place in the next few days as part of Haneyya's new tour to some Arab and Muslim countries.
The two premiers intend to discuss a number of issues related to the Egyptian intentions to invest in Gaza and the security cooperation between the two sides, the source said.
In another context, premier Ismail Haneyya said on Friday in a televised statement to the Egyptian satellite channel "ON TV" that the inter-Palestinian reconciliation is a national need and there are no alternative to it.
The premier stressed the need for providing first the appropriate atmosphere in order to reach a genuine permanent reconciliation agreement on one political system.
"We want a single authority, one command and a united national program, and we want one language to use with the world as a common Palestinian language regardless of the differences in the Palestinian arena," the premier highlighted.
"The Palestinian division is harmful and does not serve the Palestinian cause, but there are factors obstructing the reconciliation, one is internal and the other is external. The first factor is that there are security forces in the West Bank who refuse to get along with the culture of reconciliation which was signed by president Abbas, and the external one lies in the US pressure and the Israeli intervention because these parties do not want the reconciliation to take place and this was reiterated openly by many US and Israeli officials," the premier underscored.
