A famous Shiite Mukhtar Azmi was shot dead alongside his son, Baqar, in Karachi today.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A famous Shiite Mukhtar Azmi was shot dead alongside his son, Baqar, in Karachi today.The incident occurred when the car that the martyrs were travelling in was fired on by members of the banned political organization Sipah-e-Sahaba near Karachi’s ‘Purani’ Sabzi Mandi.Mukhtar Aazmi, chairman of the Islamic Research Centre Trust, his son Mohammad Baqir and his grandson were all injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Baqar, 45 and Mukhtar Azmi, 75, succumbed to their wounds soon after but Azmi’s grandson, Mohammed Ali, is under treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital.Mukhtar Azmi’s body is at the Abbasi Shaheed hospital whereas his son, Baqar’s body is at the Liaqat National Hospital.Mukhtar Aazmi was vice chairman of Pakistan Pilgrim Society. He also ran a travel agency for pilgrimages of sacred places of Islam. He was resident of North Nazimabad.Almost all Shia parties and leaders have condemned the targeted murder of Shia notable. They called it part of ongoing genocide that continued unabated in all over Pakistan.They demanded of the government to arrest the culprits immediately. They demanded of the judiciary to hang the terrorists publicly.Peace-loving, patriotic Shiites are being targeted all over Pakistan by terrorists trained and armed by Saudi Arabia and America. The law enforcement and Human Rights councils are on a legendary silence and the Chief Justice who took Su Moto action on Waheeda Shah’s incident is blind to this bloodshed./129
