(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Pointing to Tehran's move toward establishing a multipolar world, a Russian politician emphasized:"reviving Non-Aligned Movement implies an outset of diplomatic confrontation with the policies of Washington."
Vladislav Shurigin from Zavtra Russian Newspaper in an interview with Voice of Russia (VOR) Radio expressed that the summit was held with two purposes; negation of statements of some politicians on political isolation of Iran on one hand, and reviving the movement on the other hand.
"Following the collapse of Yugoslavia as a traditional leader of NAM, this geopolitical plan has been suspended and no country could help modernization of the movement. Iran's effort to lead the movement is a great diplomatic step which can be taken by an unexpectedly powerful actor."
"Russia and China veto resolutions on employing violence against Syria. Non-Aligned Movement, obviously, is an appropriate means of establishing order and peacekeeping operations in Syria along with attempts of a number of nations like Iran in this connection", he stated on Syria crisis.
A pioneer newspaper of China also revealed: "Iran by holding NAM summit in Tehran broke the diplomatic siege of the West."
"Tehran summit in which heads and diplomat representatives of over a hundred nations attended was a great success for Iran. Actually, the efforts of the US also weren’t successful in preventing Ban Ki-Moon from attending the summit. Australia as a traditional ally to the US attended in the summit as well", this newspaper continued.
Dow Jones Newswires published in this regard: "attendance of almost all NAM members and observers in Tehran summit raised resentment of Washington."
"Holding NAM summit in Tehran proves the fact that the influence of the West in the Middle-East is declining, and simultaneously creation of the alliance of regional powers is in progress", the New York Times Newspaper revealed.
"The United States counts Iran as a serious problem which has endangered strategic interests of Washington in the Middle-East. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in his speech in Tehran summit, emphasized on the idea that the world has entered a new stage. He continued that Non-Aligned Movement should play a more active role in the new world, and countries should develop their relations based on joint interests, not on intimidation and threat."
"Peace and justice were stressed as well in the final declaration of the summit. The participants of the summit tried also to find peaceful ways to put an end to the conflicts in Syria, Palestine issue, and the nuclear programs of Iran."
