Velayati’s Office rejects UN Sec Gen speaker’s comments

 (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Office of Supreme Leader’s International Affairs Consultant rejected here Monday night comments of UN Sec Gen speaker about lack of authenticity of Ban Ki-moon’s comments on Ayatollah Khamene’ie’s role in Middle East.According to the IRNA Monday night news team, the office of Ali-Akbar Velayati issued a communiqué on the matter, sending a copy of which to IRNA in which the news broadcasted on BBC on Sunday September 2nd, the UN Secretary General Spokesman Martin Nesirky comments about Mr. Ban’s meeting with the Supreme Leader are rejected by offering direct quotations of him during that meeting.The communiqué reads, “What Dr. Velayati has narrated from the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon in his meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Revolution is naturally based on the audio-visual recorded tapes and films, all of which exist.“At that meeting the UN secretary general referred to Ayatollah Khamene’ie in these words:Quote “As a supreme leader and also religious leader of not only Iran, but also this region, you can play crucially important role.” UnquoteElsewhere Mr. Ban reiterated:Quote “You have an important role to play; you have been playing in the situation in Lebanon, Iraq. I know you are very much concerned for situation in Bahrain.“These are all the areas that Iran has been plying and will continue to play an important role.“I like to focus on one area today, on Syria. One of my main purposes of coming to meet you is to ask you to exercise maximum influence in resolving this crisis in Syria.“I think in this region, only Iran can play this crucially important role......”UnquoteOf course it would have been more appropriate for the UN officials to heed the advice of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution on not becoming the loudspeaker of the Americans. /129
