(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) A Persian-language daily said on Saturday that President Mohamed Mursi of Egypt has emerged as a "phenomenon" at the inaugural ceremony of the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement.
President Mursi's presence in Tehran Summit was a "Turning point of what can be called the international image of Mohamed Mursi," wrote newspaper, the Vatan-e Emrouz (Homeland of Today) in an article on its Saturday edition referring to the speech of the Egyptian president at the inaugural ceremony of the NAM Summit.
In his speech, President Mursi criticized the government of Syria and supported Syrian opposition groups.
"As far as Tehran is concerned, the question is that whether President Mursi acted like a friend or an enemy? Was he a threat or a chance?" asked the paper.
It said that President Mursi's speech had some key points which included:
"- Nobody in Tehran has ever expected President Mursi to defend President Bashar Al-Assad. Basically this was not the objective behind inviting him to the summit. What was important to Tehran was President Mursi's position about the Zionist regime of Israel which was clearly mentioned by the Egyptian president where he supported unity among Palestinians, the need for continued resistance to the Zionist regime and the need for establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
"What was censored since yesterday (by western media) was President Mursi's words about Israel which sparked indignation of (Zionist regime's Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and his allies."
Vatan-e Emrouz argued President Mursi had realized that Zionists would never allow the Islamic Brotherhood to take power in Egypt since the country "stands on the edge of resistance to Israel.
"This is better for Egypt that a person like President Assad rules over Syria not a guy who receives his monthly payment from Tel Aviv," stressed the article.
As the second key point of President Mursi's speech, the paper referred to his opening statements in which the Egyptian president greeted the second and third Caliphs (Umar and Othman) of Sunni Muslims as well as Imam Ali (First Imam of Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) Infallible Household upon Shia Muslims belief).
"- Dislike what was being suggested by the British Broadcast Company (BBC) since yesterday, President Mursi's words was an indication of unity and not war between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
"Nobody has ever used such literature as did the Egyptian president. He showed his deep respect for Imam Ali (AS) and it means that he was not deceived by the sectarianism of the Saudi officials in the Muslim world."
According to the paper, Using such literature has proved that President Mursi was "the perception of an American nightmare. The nightmare of taking power of a true Islamist politician in Egypt," wrote the paper.
It added, "President Mursi's words proved that the Americans nightmare has come true and an Islamist politician has taken power in Egypt who believes in combination of religion and politics.
"Egypt is apt to put an end to decades of US dream for bringing to power of secular governments in the Sunni World," stressed the paper, adding that Cairo now has the power to "start a new wave of forming religious governments."
According to Vatan-e Emrouz what should be regarded as the top criteria for President Mursi's speech in Tehran Summit was his efforts "to avoid sectarianism, his respect for the Ahl al bayt (Infallible Household of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)), the hostility he began with the Zionist regime and his efforts to distance himself from the dark age of the toppled president Hussni Mubarak of Egypt."
" And most importantly, was President Mursi's friendly words about Iran which were censored by western media, said the paper.
"President Mursi referred to Iran as a friendly and cordial country and a strategic partner for Egypt and stressed that to settle regional problems no solution would be effective without Tehran's presence.
"Even the Egyptian foreign minister announced that Cairo was to promote its bilateral ties with Tehran.
"All these factors indicate that the region would soon experience a deep geopolitical change during which a powerful pivot would link the east and west of the Islamic World," the paper predicted.
"The more powerful gets the Egypt-Israeli conflict, the more strength will find the pivot so that it materialize an Israeli nightmare which will be unprecedented since 1948," said the daily in conclusion.
