Lesotho's Foreign Minister Mohlabi Kenneth Tsekoa underlined Iran's key role in the promotion of global peace and security.
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Speaking to reporters upon arrival in Tehran on Monday, Tsekoa reiterated that Iran played a significant role in developing peace among nations.
Tsekoa, who is in Tehran to attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) ministerial meeting, stated that countries participating in the meeting will discuss peace and try to find solutions for problems facing different countries.
He added that the expansion of ties and promotion of education programs will be of the agenda.
The 16th NAM summit started in Tehran Sunday and will last to August 31. At the start of the Sunday meeting, Iran assumed the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years.
The Islamic Republic's three-year tenure as head of the movement is a chance for Tehran to elevate its international standing as the United States seeks to cripple its economy and isolate it diplomatically over its disputed nuclear program.
Many analysts say that the diplomatic spotlight gives Tehran an opportunity to show Washington has failed to cut it off from the rest of the world.
Around 110 are present at attending the conference and more than 45 states will send their top officials to the heads-of-state summit this week.
The guest list includes new Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi - the first Egyptian leader to visit Iran since its Islamic revolution in 1979.
