Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have expressed their gratitude and respect to the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of its continued support for the Palestinians and their cause.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - This comes as the Iranian capital Tehran is hosting the Non-Aligned Nations’ Movement NAM summit. Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the NAM meeting, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the tragedy of Palestine is the root cause of conflicts in the region describing Israel as the greatest threat to regional security.Palestinians in the Gaza Strip hailed the stance of Iran in supporting their resistance against Israeli occupation of Palestine.Acting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas will be attending the NAM summit in the Iranian Capital Tehran. The Hamas government announced on Saturday that the democratically elected Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya would also attend the summit, but on Sunday its spokesman Taher al-Nonou said that Haneya will not be attending.Many here believe that the Palestinian cause would be on top of the NAM agenda as its 16thsummit is taking place in the Iranian capital.The Islamic Republic of Iran is well-recognized for its support to the oppressed Palestinian people whether politically or culturally. Experts believe that Iran’s popularity among Palestinians stems from the Islamic Republic’s bold stances against Zionism and imperialism.Gazans say they highly value the Islamic Republic of Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance against Israeli aggression. /219
