(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Releasing a statement on the occasion of the NAM meeting in Tehran, the IWPF called for holding of an international conference on patterns for global governance and cultures of the Non-Aligned nations in the remaining months of 2012.
The Islamic World Peace Forum is a non-governmental organization with a board of trustees, strategic council and secretary general that undertake its activities through committees and departments.
As mentioned in IWPF’s homepage, It was formed “with an aim of establishing a fair world peace, filling the existing gap between man and religion” in a world that is facing “serious challenges partly caused by the abuse of peace and peacemaking.”
During their meeting in Tehran, the NAM member states were urged, in the IWPF's statement, to examine threats to global peace and security in a world which is dominated by neo-colonialism.
The forum also expected participants of the 16th NAM summit in Tehran to renovate the old authority of the movement as an independent body to fight against neo-colonialism.
The IWPF referred to the Tehran Summit as a historic event at the international relations and an important opportunity to strengthen brotherhood, cooperation and consultation among NAM members.
The 16th NAM summit meeting is to be held n the Iranian capital from August 26-31.
The experts meeting of the NAM member states officially started here Sunday morning with a speech by Foreign Minister of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi.
The two-day meeting will be followed by a meeting by the NAM’s foreign ministers from August 28-29 and the Summit will be held from August 30-31.
