Lebanon to host second Islam-Christianity dialogue

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Lebanese capital of Beirut will host the second of four interfaith dialogues between Muslim and Christian leaders to discuss common foundations of peace and justice.Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, Iranian cleric and Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought will deliver a speech in the second summit between Muslim-Christian leaders.Iranian senior religious figure will relate on “Muslim-Christian Joint Foundation for Peace and Justice in a Changing violent World” which will mainly focus on the relation between peace and justice.Cardianl Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Sheikh Malek Shaar, Tripoli and Mount Lebanon Mufti and Bishop John Bryson Chane, Bishop of Washington in the Episcopal Church are among other prominent lecturers of this conference.Beirut interfaith dialogue is one of a series of face-to-face meetings between celebrated Muslim and Christian leaders from both western and eastern countries.This conference, to be held on 18-20 June, 2012, aims at developing a better understanding of other religions and denominations and also motivating religious leaders for promoting peaceful and reconciliatory means.The first of four interfaith dialogues on reconciliation was held in Washington National Cathedral back in March 2010. /129
