(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Police forces arrested on Wednesday 20 suspected gunmen in the city of Kut, local police chief said.
"The forces arrested five members of al-Qaeda's Islamic State of Iraq during a raid in al-Suweira district, north of Kut," General Hussein Abdulhadi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"The five men are involved in implementing several armed operations against civilians," he added.
"A three-man drug dealing gang was also arrested in al-Ezza neighborhood in western Kut," he said.
"Policemen managed to capture twelve wanted men in other regions in Kut."
Kut, the capital of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
