(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Lebanese government returned Saturday 78 Mesopotamian artifacts smuggled into Lebanon from Iraq, in a ceremony held for the occasion at Beirut's National Museum.
Culture Minister Gaby Layyoun presented the Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Omar Barzanji, with the 78 Iraqi historic antiques confiscated in Lebanon.
"This event signifies Lebanon's commitment to its obligations, and respect for laws and regulations concerning protection of relics," said the Minister, who asserted that historic artifacts belong to humanity at large and not to a certain people or nation.
