(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "We have asked [the Saudi Arabian government] for his extradition on two occasions, but we have not received any reply," said Hedi Ayari, the head of the Tunis military tribunal.
Ayari made the remarks on Tuesday, during a court trial of the ousted Tunisian dictator.
The trial in absentia, held in Ben Ali's absence, opened on December 21, and was again postponed until January 10.
The ex-ruler could face the death penalty if found guilty.
Ben Ali has already had several convictions handed down against him in his absence.
In June of 2011, a Tunisian court sentenced Ben Ali and his wife to 35 years in prison after finding them guilty of embezzlement and other charges.
More than 300 people were reportedly killed in the popular Tunisian revolt that started in December 2010 and culminated in Ben Ali's flight to Saudi Arabia on January 14 last year after his 23-year-long rule.
