(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - 100 countries have received invitations by Iraq’s Culture Ministry to send their representatives to the inauguration ceremony of the “Najaf, 2012 Cultural Capital of Islamic World”.This is according to Ahmed Abdul Jabbar Razaj, director of the ministry’s cultural relations department.He was quoted as saying that 200 prominent cultural, religious and scientific figures as well as personalities representing international organizations, have also been invited to participate in the ceremony.He said among other invitees are chancellors of Iraqi universities, academic figures and the country’s political officials.He added that the organizing committee has planned 10 festivals and conferences as well as seminars and events covering such fields as literature, poetry, theater, cinema etc.Najaf was chosen by ISESCO from among Arab cities as the 2012 cultural capital of the Islamic world. /129
