(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The demonstration organized by Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Stop the War Coalition, British Muslim Initiative, Palestinian Forum in Britain and Friends of Al-Aqsa is planned to begin at 5.30pm Monday 4 July outside Downing Street.
Sheikh Raed Salah, who is the head of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, was arrested by the UK government in London on July 1, despite the fact that there were no legal or legitimate reasons for him to be pursued.
The protesters plan to hold a silent protest, which is the symbol of both the UK government's attempt to silence Sheikh Raed Salah, and preventing him speaking to his legal team.
The Palestinian National Assembly for Jerusalem expressed its disappointment and condemnation of the British government's move.
Contrasting what the government has pictured, Salah “is a man of peace, a widely respected leader who campaigns tirelessly for his people. By attempting to silence him in the United Kingdom, the Government is turning its back on the Palestinian people,” PSC stated.
Shaykh Raed Salah, has worked determinedly for years defending the rights of Palestinians. He has been arrested and imprisoned for several times, despite being engaged in peaceful activities.
