(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) – The talks will be launched on Thursday when Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao will visit the Pakistani capital of Islamabad for two days of negotiations with her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir.
India broke off peace negotiations in 2008 after terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed nearly 170 people.
India blames the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba for carrying out the attacks. Pakistan has arrested several members of the group over the attack.
Kashmir is divided between Pakistan and India and both countries claim it in its entirety.
Last year, Kashmir was rocked by violent pro-independence protests and over 100 Kashmiris lost their lives at the hands of Indian troops during the unrest. The demonstrations started after security forces killed a teenage protester in June.
Following the unrest, several regional and international rights groups called on India to take immediate steps to protect and respect human rights in Kashmir.
