DIALA, Iraq (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Police arrested 19 wanted persons and defused seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in different areas of Diala on Sunday, according to the province’s police chief.
“Police forces conducted preemptive operations in different areas of Diala, arresting 19 wanted persons and dismantling seven IEDs,” Maj.General Abdulhussein al-Shimari told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Shimari praised “the security agencies’ activities during the past couple of days.”
“The security agencies have acted with utmost proficiency with the incidents that took place in the province by preserving public property and on one hand and the protesters’ safety on the other,” he said.
The restive province of Diala lies 57 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
